Chateau Le Peuy Saincrit has about 30 acres of vines in one block facing south on the right bank of the Garonne River. The domaine has the distinction of being located exactly on the 45th parallel of latitude. The vineyard has sandy, gravelly soils which allow for good drainage and the vines are mature, averaging 35 years of age, so deep roots and low yields. But most significant is its location on the highest hill in the region so it gets the absolute best sun exposure.
2016 was an outstanding vintage and this wine displays it well. 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon with 9 months of oak aging. This wine shows deep color and inviting aromas of black cherry, black currants, hints of violet, cocoa and cedar. the palate is rich with more black fruit flavors along with hints of spice and a touch of minerality. The tannins are supple and chewy and wine has a long fruit-filled finish. Drinks beautifully now but definitely has the make-up for cellaring 3-5 years.
Only available in Europe until now, don't miss it!!
