Owners of Chateau Les Hauts de Palette, the Yung Family’s ancestors excelled in wine making and were listed in the first edition of Féret des Vins d’ Oranie in 1886. Carrying on the tradition through generations this Chateau is situated on a small plateau with ideal exposure on Bordeaux’ Right Bank, far from the fogs of the Garonne. The vineyard has a mix of gravel, clay and chalky soils and grow Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
This wine from the warm but superb 2015 vintage is a blend of 60% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes were fermented separately and were given 20 or 30 days of maceration and fermentation in a stainless steel tank. The wine aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 90 points saying “With a good balance between the 60% Merlot and 40% of the two Cabernets, this wood-aged wine shows a rounded, generous character. It is still structured and still shows a touch of smokiness from the wood. However, the rich black fruits are beginning to shine. Drink the wine from 2020.” On Sale!
