Château Monsan Estebe is family owned just a mile or so from the city of Bordeaux. A hundred years ago it was fruit trees and a dairy pasture now thanks to the the vision and efforts of Régis and Hervé Grandeau who control the estate today it has 135 acres of vines on good clay and limestone soils planted mainly to Merlot.
90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, grapes are harvested at their optimal maturity and destemmed. A cold maceration for 3 to 4 days to extract the color and soft tannins is followed by a temperature-controlled fermentation. with an extended skin maceration up to 25 days.
This wine shows deep ruby red color and a powerful nose with gorgeous red fruit, minerals and earthy undertones. On the palate it's supple and well balanced with ripe fruit, cassis, tobacco and dark chocolate notes in a very forward and friendly style. A lingering finish is punctuated by soft tannins and mineral nuance. Overall a remarkable value that we fell is an incredible find, it was awarded a Gold Medal in the Gilbert & Gaillard Concours International Competition. We're offering this delightful Gold Medal Bordeaux from the outstanding 2016 vintage at a super discounted price to our Wine Express customers!
