About Chateau Routas 2021 Rose, Coteaux Varois en Provence

The 700-acre estate of Chateau Routas is nestled between the old town elegance of Aix-en-Provence, and the white sand beaches that line the Gulf de Saint Tropez, within the Coteaux Varois en Provence, an enclave of the Cote de Provence. At an altitude of 1100 feet, cool nights contribute to wines that combine both freshness and grape complexity. In 2005 Sir David Murray's family took ownership, ushering in a new era for Chateau Routas.

For this 2021 Rose grape varietals are harvested separately, destemmed, and then go directly into the press bladder. Maceration occurs for the next few hours. This time allows cold settling to be complete before inoculation with selected yeasts. The grape varietals are fermented separately in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine is blended. This Rose is a cuvee of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.

James Suckling scored this 91 points saying "Pale rose-tinted rosé with aromas of buttercups, white strawberries, pink grapefruit and wet stones. Light-bodied with fresh acidity and a creamy, delicate palate. Elegant. Drink now."
