Chateau Sainte-Catherine 2015 Cadillac Cotes De Bordeaux

Here's a Bordeaux Bargain from the outstanding 2015 vintage. The owner of this estate, Jean Merlaut is a passionate winegrower who also manages 2nd Growth Chateau Gruaud Larose in Saint-Julien, so he clearly knows his the ropes when it comes to quality Bordeaux. The vineyards cover 86 acres of clay and gravel soils on the right bank of the Garonne. The vineyards average 20 years of age.


This 2015 is a blend of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. The fruit was picked by hand and after sorting, the grapes were sent to the tanks for a slow fermentation with controlled temperatures. The wine underwent oak aging for about 12 months and was bottle-aged for 18 months before release.

Wine Enthusiast Magazine designated this a "Best Buy" and scored it 90 points saying "This is a dense wine, packed with great tannins and equally impressive black fruit. With its structure and concentration, the wine has an excellent future. It comes from a vineyard that looks out over the Garonne river with a good exposure, giving the wine's ripe fruit. Drink from 2020."
