About Chianti Classico Riserva 2010 Tenuta Di Renieri

Tenuta di Renieri is located in the southernmost part of the Chianti Classico zone, in the town of Castelnuovo Berardegna. Here the warmer temperatures produce bigger, riper wines than in the more northern villages. Part of the Bacci group of Tuscan wineries, Marco Bacci oversees the winemaking, using modern techniques while expressing the local terroir. This Riserva is 100% Sangiovese from his hillside vineyards that produce very low yields. It is aged 18 months in French Allier oak, 50% new barrels. The Wine Advocate scored it 90 points saying "A pure expression of Sangiovese (aged 18 months in Allier oak), the 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva is a bright and elegant wine with a great sense of vibrant, zesty fruit at the core. The bouquet shows pretty tones of cherry and red currant with savory background tones of wet earth, leather and moist chewing tobacco. That contrast between the fruit energy and the oak austerity plays out very nicely in the mouth."
