About Chianti Classico Riserva 2015 Tenuta di Arceno

The Jess Jackson family purchased the Arceno estate in 1994. Located in the southeast corner of Chianti Classico, it has 223 acres of vines. When Jackson and Vigneron Pierre Seillan first visited Tenuta di Arceno in 1994, they immediately recognized the potential of this historic estate. Over the next two decades, their team replanted the vineyards into tiny micro-crus, updated the winery and elevated the viticulture and winemaking practices to first-class standards. Today, Tenuta di Arceno is widely considered one of the premier estates in the Chianti Classico region. This is an ideal showcase for the remarkably talented Seillan, winemaker for the Jackson's Verite wines as well as his Grand Cru Chateau Lassegue in St. Emilion.

2015 was a beautiful year for growing wine, almost perfect, the Sangiovese harvest began September 22nd and finished October 10th. 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine aged 12 months in French oak and another 12  months in the bottle before release.

James Suckling scored this 94 points saying "This shows beautiful depth of fruit with cherries, fresh earth and hints of coffee. Full-bodied, layered and very rich. Impressive depth and intensity. Enjoyable to drink now, but it has a long life ahead of it."

and the Wine Advocate scored this 94 points saying "Warm aromas of dark fruit, potting soil and moist chewing tobacco rise from the bouquet of the 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva. This is an extremely territory-driven wine that emits aromas that recall the red clay soils and warm summer breezes of the Castelnuovo Berardenga area to the southern side of the Chianti Classico appellation. This is a soft and enriched red wine (made with 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) that produces sweet textural richness and plenty of ripe fruit packed within that generous fiber."
