About Crognolo 2015 Toscana IGT, Tenuta Sette Ponti
The Tenuta Sette Ponti has become famous for producing the opulent and rich Oreno Super Tuscan. But their very affordable Second wine is a perpetual over achiever! The fabulous Super Tuscan blend, Crognolo is 100% Sangiovese from their hillside vineyards in the heart of the Chianti Classico zone. Yields are kept low with a green harvest in May and the grapes are carefully hand sorted in the winery for a 20 day slow maceration. Aging is in French Allier oak barrels for 10-14 months. Antonio Galloni scored this 91 points saying "The 2015 Crognolo is a delicious, entry-level wine from Sette Ponti. Bright and punchy, with plenty of red fruit, spice and floral character, Crognolo is a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next few years." and James Suckling has scored it 94 points saying "A firm and chewy young wine with chestnut, chocolate and oyster shell character. A blackberry undertone. Full body, polished and fresh. Drink now or hold in your cellar."
