Domaine de Fontavin is a family estate going back 7 generations. They own 108 acres in 8 different communes in the Southern Rhone Valley. Daughter Helene Chovet Coton joined the Domain as oenolgist in 2018 and started transitioning to organic farming. The grapes are now all organically farmed since 2011.
This Gigondas is produced from grapes hand picked and selected. It is a blend of 75% Grenache Noir, 10 % Mourvedre, 5% Syrah, 3% Cinsault and 2% Clairette aged in neutral oak for 12 months.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored the 2017 94 points, this 2018 is a stellar follow up. Master of Wine Richard Hemming said "Sweet black fruit on the nose, opulent and pure..."
