In the spectrum of people who pay attention to detail, winemakers are often incredibly detail-oriented. This can sometimes spill over to become an internal battled, and, as Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena state, "We are our own worst enemy." El Enemigo pays homage to this internal struggle. A Blend of 80% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec, 10% Petit Verdot fremented in oak barrels over 22 days. This allows the oak to integrate fully into the finished wine. The wine then aged and additional 18 months in a combination of 35% new French and American oak.
James Suckling scored this 95 points saying "Very tight and beautiful wine with blackberry, blueberry and hints of tobacco, spice, and black tea. Full body, dense and powerful. Energy and intensity to this."
and Tim Akin also scored it 95 saying "Showing a freshness and fine-boned structure that wouldn’t look out of place in St. Julien or Margaux, this is a blend of the five Bordeaux red grapes, led by Cabernet Franc. Elegant, spicy and refined, with leafy, graphite-scented aromas and cassis and bramble fruit supported by oak.”
