The Emina Ribera winery was constructed in 2005 in Valbuena de Duero, within the prestigious area of the Golden Mile of the Ribera del Duero. The vineyards are south-facing limestone plots along the Douro River, at altutudes of between 2500 and 2700 feet. The vines average a mature 20+ years of age.
Emina Reserva is only produced in vintages that are suitable for the required quality and production is very limited due to the meticulousness and care with which it is made. Double selection of the 100% Tempranillo grapes is done in the field and in the winery. Fermentation and maceration is in stainless steel tanks. The wine ages in French Allier oak barrels for 14 months.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 93 points saying "Smooth plum and berry aromas are ripe and on the money. A full, direct palate is weighty but not heavy, with racy acidity. Blackberry and black currant flavors are fully oaked but don't taste woody, while this Tinto Fino is smooth on a finish with wood spice and vanilla residuals. Drink through 2028."
