About Experience 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Experience wine is the dream of Catherine and Travis Vale. Travis was born and raised in the Russian River Valley of California’s Sonoma Coast. He first worked a harvest in 1998, falling in love with the sights and sounds of a working winery. The daughter of a master brewer, Catherine was born and raised in London.
Catherine and Travis Vale met in 2001 while both were traveling in New Zealand. Travis was furthering his education in the cooler climate-growing regions of Marlborough. Catherine was finishing up a six-month tour of Southeast Asia and Australia. The tour bus they shared was aptly named the Kiwi Experience New Zealand. They got married and made their home in Napa Valley. In 2010 they struck out on their own journey of growing grapes and launching a new wine brand, naming it Experience after the bus tour where they met, since the first release their wine has over-delivered for the price.
Sourcing grapes from some of the best AVA's in Napa Valley including Oakville, Diamond Mountain, Rutherford, Oak Knoll and Howell Mountain, they barrel ferment a portion of the wine in French oak. The rest is fermented in stainless steel tanks over two weeks. The wine is aged 17 months in French oak 17% new oak.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine awarded this an Editors' Choice and scored it 90 points saying "This wine consistently offers value and quality year to year, offering moderately restrained layers of red cherry, plum and cushiony tannin. Supple and straightforward, the sweet oak adds quiet hints of vanilla and spice."
