About Ferrari-Carano 2018 Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley

Ferrari-Carano purchased a unique vineyard property planted to Pinot Noir grapes on Mendocino Ridge above Anderson Valley. The vineyard, surrounded by towering redwoods and lush forest, sits high above the fog line at over 1,500-foot elevation on the cool, steep slopes of Mendocino Ridge. This delicious Ferrari-Carano Pinot Noir is sourced from there. The grapes were hand harvested and hand sorted in the field. The grapes are cold soaked for three days and fermented in small bins and stainless steel open-top fermenters. Various yeast strains are introduced to add complexity. The wine has aged for 10 months in 20% new French oak barrels before bottling.

Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 92 points saying "Rich, dark and full bodied, this expansive wine is full of black-fruit flavors and smoky oak, all wrapped in a velvety texture that helps coax black-cherry and dark-spice notes into a lingering finish."

Wine Spectator scored this 90 points saying "Juicy and rich, with concentrated dark cherry and boysenberry flavors, featuring cocoa and chocolate cream accents. Asian spice notes emerge on the finish. Drink now through 2024."
