About Ferrari-Carano 2018 Siena, Red Blend, Sonoma County

Siena was one of the first premium Sangiovese blends made in California. Ferrari-Carano has produced this wine with consistently superb results year after year. A reflection of their Italian heritage Siena is a wine that has been continually honed over the years to find the perfect formula.

This vintage, along with Sangiovese the blend includes Malbec, Petite Syrah and some Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are sourced from estate vineyards in Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley and Russian River Valley, as well as from other premium vineyards in Sonoma. The wine is aged in 20% new French and Eastern European oak and 80% older oak for a total of 12 months. The style emphasizes the bright cherry fruit that Sangiovese is known for.

Awarded 98 Points, Best of Class in the 2021 North Coast Wine Challenge!

This 2018 was awarded a Gold Medal in the San Francisco Chronicle 2021 Wine Competition. It shows aromas of toasted graham cracker, plum, raspberry and mocha that lead to flavors of baked cherry pie, vanilla bean, cola and spice with sweet oak notes and hints of butterscotch lingering on the finish.
