About Galerie 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Latro, Knights Valley

The Jackson Family's Galerie produces Cabernet Sauvignon that showcases one of California's foremost wine-growing regions — Knights Valley. After serving as enologist at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars and Assistant Winemaker at Cardinale, producing 100% Cabernet Sauvignon at Galerie was an ideal fit for head winemaker Gianna Kelly as she brings this growing region to life.

Grapes for this 2016 were sourced from two prime Jackson Family Estate vineyards, the Kellogg Estate Vineyard  and the Knights Bridge Estate Vineyard. The grapes were cold macerated for three days to bring out aromas and color extraction. Fermentation lasted 19 days and the wine aged for 20 months in 63% new French oak barrels. It's bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Jeb Dunnuck scored this 95 points saying "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Latro is in the same ballpark yet has more savory characteristics as well as plenty of conifer, California bay leaf, currants, and loamy soil aromas and flavors. This full-bodied beauty has plenty of tannin, terrific purity of fruit, no hard edges, and a great finish. Give it a few years."

The Wine Advocate scored this 93 points saying "One-hundred percent Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Latro Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon gives up notions of crushed red and black currants, warm plums and baked cherries with touches of garrigue, dusty soil and bay leaves. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and grainy with lovely freshness and great intensity in the mouth, leading to a long, purely fruited finish."
