Here's an Extremely Limited Zin from the famous Bacigalupi Vineyard. Richly satisfying and On Sale!!!

In 1956 Charles and Helen Bacigalupi purchased 121 acres on Westside Road in the Russian River Valley. In a simple beginning, they cared for the 16 acres of existing vineyards. Envisioning the demand for premium wine grapes, Paul Heck (of Korbel winery) encouraged them to plant Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and Zinfandel was planted a short time later. The Bacigalupi family name gained recognition during the 1976 Paris tasting when the 1973 Napa Valley Chardonnay from Château Montelena (made with 40% Bacigalupi fruit) triumphed over many acclaimed French wines.

Today the vineyards consist of 125 acres of premium grapes, which have been planted and managed for the past 30 years by John Bacigalupi and his family. For this wine Graton Ridge Cellars was able to source fruit from the Bacigalupi Vineyard, and hand produce just 273 cases. Graton Ridge, now owned by Furthermore sits right in the heart of the Russian River Valley. Accolades and awards have become an integral aspect of the Graton Ridge Cellars/Furthermore union, with both entities earning major honors. The prestigious San Francisco International Wine competition even named the entity Winemaker of the Year for 2015, an incredible distinction for the diminutive winery.

Winemaker for Graton Ridge Cellars is industry veteran, Erica Stancliff, who worked at Vina Cobos in Mendoza, one of Argentina’s top wineries, Napa Valley’s Rudd Winery and Sonoma’s well-respected Trombetta Family Wines. She worked her magic on this rare Baciagalupi Vineyard fruit allowing it to show the bold intensity that it's famous for. Layers of blackberry, boysenberry, bright black cherry, hints of oak, allspice, cinnamon and pepper. Nicely full-bodied with crisp acid and supple tannins. Youthful but very expressive now and sure to evolve beautifully over the next 5-8 years. Best of all, this Zin is made to sell for upwards of $50 but we're offering a very limited supply at a substantial saving to our Wine Express customers. Don't wait!!
