The Forstreiter family, owners of Meinhard Forstreiter have been making wine since the late 1800's. With winemaking in their blood, they have brought their current property to an exceptional level of quality. The vineyard is situated in Krems-Hollenburg in the Kremstal, along the right bank of the Danube River, across from the Wachau, an ideal micro-climate for Gruner Veltliner. For this Scheifer single vineyard reserve the grapes are hand harvested and whole cluster pressed. After fermentation the wine ages two weeks on the fine lees.Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 90 points saying "A hint of juicy pineapple on the nose leads to a fruity palate that suggests tropical largesse as well as juicy yellow pear and plum. This generosity is corseted very softly by gentle citrus freshness. The overall impression is one of juicy drinkability and burgeoning fruit with a lovely lively grapefruit finish."
