Haras de Pirque is a union of two passions in a unique place where thoroughbred horse breeding and fine wine making come together. In Pirque, Chile in the foothills of the Andes the famed Antinori Family of Tuscany planted 290 acres of vineyards in 1992, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere. They produce outstanding wines with their winemaking team led by Renzo Cotarella.
This Reserva Carmenere is sourced from the estate vineyards. Low yields coupled with the removal of leaves at the bunch area and continual canopy management produce optimal fruit flavor. Roughly 50 percent of the grapes were cold macerated for five days, afterward, the wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The Carmenere is blended with 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and the wine aged for 10 months in French oak barrels.
It shows dark and intensely violet, this wine is expressive of wines coming from the Andes Maipo Region. Rich in the nose with aromas of black fruit and spices. In the mouth it is soft and juicy with pleasant balance and hints of dark chocolate.
