Hess Collection 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, Allomi Vyd., Napa Valley

The Allomi vineyard lies in the gently rolling hills of northeastern Napa Valley, where the combination of a typically long, warm growing season and well-drained soils create optimal ripening conditions. Sustainably farmed, the 210-acre vineyard is focused into 35 unique growing blocks with six different Cabernet clones that add diversity of flavors and complexity to the wine. In each vintage, winemakers evaluate the grapes and select only the finest components for this cuvée. In the outstanding 2015 vintage the blend is 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petite Sirah and 2% Petite Verdot and the wine aged in 25% New American oak for 18 months.Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 90 points saying "With small amounts of Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot, this likable, broadly appealing wine is well made, generously rich and softly layered in blue fruit, chocolate and integrated American oak." and the Wine Advocate also gave it 90 points saying "Blended of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon with dollops of Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Allomi Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon offers up notions of crème de cassis, mocha and cigar boxes with touches of tilled soil and charcoal plus a hint of menthol. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals some spicy nuances accenting the rich, generous fruit, framed by grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on a minted blackcurrant note."
