About Il Colle 2016 Brunello di Montalcino
One of the "small jewels in Montalcino's original growing area," Il Colle was once a part of Conti Costanti's Colle al Matrichese, a property that sits at a high altitude of 1250 to 1400 feet. The winery lies just outside of the old walls of the town of Montalcino. Il Colle was a convent turned farm, turned residence and winery. The grapes are all farmed organically and the wine is fermented with native yeasts.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine awarded this a Cellar Selection and scored it 97 points saying “Exuding class and finesse, this lovely red opens with compelling aromas of ripe woodland berry, violet, wild herb and underbrush. Delicious and elegantly structured, the palate shows youthful tension that offsets juicy Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, grilled rosemary and baking spice. Taut, refined tannins and bright acidity provide impeccable balance. It’s already showing beautifully but promises great aging potential too. Drink 2024–2036.”
