95 point wine with concentrated flavors of green apple, ripe citrues and mineral that are defyl supported by fresh acidity. Great wine for any occasion.
J. Lohr Vineyards is a pioneering winery in the Central Coast. As one of the first to produce Cabernet in Paso Robles they've staked out select vineyard sites in the Paso Robles AVA. With long summer days of intense sunshine, high, near 100F daytime temperatures are followed by chilly, ocean-cooled nights in the 50's. Here the Cabernet vines are naturally stressed in the dry, often very gravelly, and sometimes lime shale-laden soils. Water is at a premium in these vineyards, and the vines struggle to produce deeply concentrated fruit. Wine Review Online gave this Cab a 95 point score saying "J. Lohr's 2014 Hilltop Cabernet is of the sort that made Paso Robles Cab famous. It's ripe and juicy, spicy and racy, and priced modestly. With loads of blackberry and blueberry fruit and supple tannins, it's a crowd-pleaser that is primed for stardom during the upcoming grilling season. A platinum award-winner at the 2017 Winemaker Challenge International Wine Competition."
