Janzen 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, Beckstoffer To Kalon Vyd., Napa Valley

From the cellars of Bacio Divino comes Janzen. Now comprising three distinct vineyard-designate Cabernets as well as an all Napa Valley Cabernet, highly rated Janzen wines have developed their own following. This Cab is sourced entirely from the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard on the valley floor in the heart of Oakville. The To Kalon name is synonymous with excellence and the 2015 vintage offered a very low yield of exceptional fruit. The wine aged 26 months in new Taransaud French oak barrels, from the Allier and Tronçais forests.

Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 94 points saying "The famous site delivers its classic grace and power, this producer's rendering an exploration of sanguine black olive and pungent, floral violet. With toffee, coffee and chocolate components on the midpalate, make no mistake this is a rich, concentrated wine, plush in tannin weight and texture."

The Wine Advocate scored this 96-98 saying "A barrel sample to be bottled in January 2018, the deep purple-black colored 2015 Janzen Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon gives a characteristically decadent nose of Indian spices and chocolate box with hints of cigar box and menthol over a crème de cassis and blueberry compote core. Full-bodied, concentrated and full-on seductive, it features mouth-filling berry preserves and spice layers, finishing long with some earthy notions coming through."
