A stunning Bordeaux value!! Chateau Ramage La Batisse is a Cru Bourgeois property located in Saint-Sauveur near Pauillac and its famous Crus Classes Chateaux. The estate has 144 acres of vines averaging over 30 years of age. Like most Medoc estates the vines are kept healthy through rolling replanting so there are sections with older vines and sections with young vines.
For the estate's Grand Vin only the best, most mature vine grapes are used leaving a large quantity of fine, younger vine Haut-Medoc fruit. That fruit is declassified to Bordeaux Superieur and bottled here as Le Coq de Ramage. In the excellent 2016 vintage there was very high quality, ripe fruit that make this wine absolutely delectable. A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc the wine was aged in vats on the fine lees giving it body and added complexity.
It shows intense ruby crimson color, lots of fruit on the nose with floral touches, well-rounded and supple on the palate with ripe fruit, smooth tannins and lively acidity. Best of all because it's this Cru Bourgeois fruit was declassified the price is perfect for everyday enjoyment!
