Chateau Lassegue is the stunning St. Emilion property purchased by the Jackson Family who made it one of the region's top performers. With Winemaker Pierre Seillan (also of Verite), the Lassegue team turns out exceptional right bank Bordeaux every vintage. Located on the Côte de Saint-Émilion, the vineyards of Chateau Lassegue are blessed with both extraordinary soils and an ideal south/south-west exposition to the sun. In discovering the unique micro-crus of the property, Pierre Seillan realized he could produce more than one wine to showcase the diversity of the estate.
Primarily a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, Les Cadrans de Lassegue, the estate’s second label, is refined and elegant, a beautiful and perfect expression of its fruit.
2017 was an excellent vintage and this wine is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc from vines averaging 50-60 years of age. The wine was aged 12 Months in 20% new French oak barrels.
Decanter Magazine scored this 92 points saying “This is a rather lovely 2017 from winemaker Pierre Seillan, showing excellent density with touches of well-textured raspberry and crushed damson fruit.”
The bouquet is fresh and elegant, showcasing a complex expression of red fruits, spices and violet. The finesse of the aromas follows through on the palate, where the persistence of red fruits is lifted by notes of nutmeg and white pepper. Well-balanced and elegantly structured with already silky tannins and a mineral finish, this is a great wine to enjoy immediately or within the next five years.
