Luigi Righetti 2015 Amarone Classico, Capitel Roari

Located in Valgatara, right in the heart of Valpolicella Classico zone, the Luigi Righetti estate has been a family run winery since 1909. Gian Maria Righetti is the fourth generation in the Righetti family to carry on the wine-making tradition.

The name Capitel de’ Roari refers to the various plots of vineyards where grapes are obtained for the Amarone della Valpolicella Classico. The vineyards, situated on the finest hills of the Valpolicella Classica, are well cultivated, limited in production and high in quality.

Capitel de Roari is a premium Amarone, coming from the best grape selection, and receiving delicate oak treatment.  80% Corvina and 20% Rondinella, the grapes are picked in bunches during the month of September, and placed on mats to dry until January, February. The wine is then placed in steel tanks until July or August. It is then aged for 3 years, partly in oak barrels and partly in French barriques.

This is a well-balanced Amarone that exhibits complex of dried fruit, black cherry, sweet spices and almonds with a hint of anise. Extremely rich flavors of dark and dried fruit; elegant with a long, smooth finish and lingering aftertaste.
