Arthur Metz was established in 1904 as a wine merchant based in Paris. When bottling became mandatory in Alsace, Metz seized the opportunity to build a major wine company in the region. The Metz winery is located in Couronne d'Or (“Golden Crown”), near the village of Marlenheim. Here, Metz combines tradition and technology and is a modern winery in every sense. Metz is well known for its Cremant d’Alsace.
Cremant d’Alsace is produced in the same pains taking process as Champagne with a secondary fermentation in the bottle. In addition to guarantee quality, the parcels of vines destined for Cremant must be identified in March, so the vines are tended for that purpose. Grapes must be hand harvested, transported in boxes that prevent crushing and, once in the winery, whole-bunch pressed and only lightly pressed juice, namely the first 100 liters of each 150 kilograms of grapes, can be used. While Alsace is almost as far north as Champagne, it’s much drier, warmer and sunnier. This produces slightly riper grapes and more rounded, generous flavors.
This wine is their most prestigious Cremant D'Alsace, and a tribute to their history. 100% Pinot Blanc carefully selected. The wine ages on the lees for a full 8 months before disgorgement as long maturation on the lees brings more complexity and a smooth texture to the wine.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 91 point saying "Exquisite lightness and weightless charm are the two obvious hallmarks of this wine. The merest touch of citrus appears on the nose. The palate has the same restraint and lemony fruit, pitched against a light froth of tiny bubbles. It's lithe and bright, with a dry, brisk finish."
Cremant D'Alsace is perhaps the best value as well as the best kept secret in world of wine. Here's your chance to cash in! On Sale!!
