Manzanita Creek was started by two brothers who worked in construction. They decided they wanted to make wine and took a book out of the library. Well, they obviously are very good students because within two years they had a wine selected to the San Francisco Chronicle Top 100 and they continue to turn out award winning and high scoring wines every vintage.
This is their 2016 Old Vine Zinfandel sourced from the Cloud Buster vineyard at the eastern most edge of the Russian River Valley. Planted in 1976 (40+ year old vines) on benchland at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains at 300 feet elevation, the vineyard faces West and gets drenched with late afternoon sun while also being cooled by Pacific breezes at night. The grapes develop slowly with nuance and complexity.
This wine scored 92 points from the Beverage Testing Institute (tastings.com). They said " Ruby black color. Fruity, inviting aromas and flavors of huckleberry jam, blueberry cobbler, caramel gelato, and cotton and slate with a supple, vibrant, fruity medium-to-full body and a tingling, interesting, long finish that shows impressions of chocolate craisins, raspberry cookie, and mixed nuts with crunchy, dusty tannins and light oak flavor. A wonderfully concentrated and mouthwatering Sonoma zinfandel that has great appeal, versatility, and sense of place."
We are pleased to be able to offer this superb single vineyard Zin at an outstanding sale price, but don’t wait, it’s limited!!
