A former Wine Enthusiast Magazine #1 Wine of the Year in 2011 this 2015 shows the remarkable consistency that this estate is known for. Marchesi de' Frescobaldi is one of Italy's most historic wine producers, dating to the 1300s. It is also one of the most significant producers in Italy, with nine different estates—and roughly 2,500 acres—in Tuscany. The Nipozzano Estate where this Chianti Rufina is a historic wine produced at Castello Nipozzano, an outstanding property that consistently turns out exceptional, high-scoring wine. The wine is Sangiovese and complementary grapes, Malvasia Nera, Colorino, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon aged 24 months.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 91 points saying "Red-berry, blue-flower, tobacco, scorched earth and leather aromas slowly take shape on this polished red. The linear palate offers dried cherry, currant, ground clove and a hint of coffee alongside taut close-grained tannins. Showing the warmth of the vintage, it’s already accessible. Drink through 2022."
The Wine Advocate scored this 92+ saying "The 2015 Chianti Rufina Riserva Nipozzano has a pretty garnet ruby color and offers lots of cherry and nice fruit intensity. With rich, inner ripeness and dense texture, this wine delivers a great quality-to-price ratio within the greater Frescobaldi portfolio. The quality of Sangiovese from Chianti Rufina is always a little bit brighter and sharper compared to other parts of Tuscany, even in a hot vintage such as this."
James Suckling scored this 94 points sating "What a pretty interplay between blackcurrants, boysenberries, spices, cedar and pine cones. Full-bodied but ever so delicate with a finely woven texture of taut tannins, running through layers of finely tuned blue and red fruit. Long and elegant on the finish. Best ever? Delicious now but better in 2021."
