Mason Cellars 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Pelissa Vyd., Oakville, Napa Valley

Here's am amazing find. In wine as in real estate it's impossible to overstate the importance of Location, Location, Location! This Cab from Mason Cellars comes from a location in Napa Valley that can only be described as luxury. On Highway 29 in Oakville, the Pelissa Vineyard is named for the family that once had a house there in the 1930's. Later it became one of BV's Georges De Latour Vineyards and why not? Its providential geography finds it right next to Opus One and their vineyards and adjacent to the famed Beckstoffer To-Kalon vineyard. As you might imagine, very little of this wine was produced. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 21 months in just 20% new French oak. The oak aging is a gentle seasoning on the intense, complex fruit that this unique, luxury vineyard yields.
