Merlot 2012 IGT Sicilia, Stemmari

At Stemmari tradition meets advanced technology. The winery has been built following the traditional Sicilian rural architecture and is equipped with the best wine making technology and tools in a completely thermal-conditioned environment. Stemmari cultivates their own vineyards along the wind swept Southern coast of Sicily on two estates; Sambuca di Sicilia and Acate. This Merlot is from Sambuca di Sicilia, in the province of Agrigento. It prefers terrain that is slightly clayey, and with plenty of sunlight. Maturation takes place for 8-10 months in older French barriques. This wine shows notes of blackcurrant and ripe cherries that are well-integrated with a hint of spice but very delicate and refined.
