About Napa Cellars 2015 Pinot Noir, V Collection, Carneros
Napa Cellars V Collection wines are limited-production, sub-appellation wines from the Napa Valley that pay tribute to the original five acres upon which the winery was founded in 1968. Each wine is 100% varietally true and captures the essence of the appellation from which it hails.
The grapes for this V Collection 2015 Pinot Noir came from the Moretti and Mueller vineyards in Carneros. Mueller Vineyard, nestled at the southern end of the appellation near the Sonoma border, is a flat vineyard with characteristics typical of the region: thin clay soils, frequent wind and significant cloud cover. Moretti Vineyard is on a mild slope with clay-loam soils. Both sites provide ideal conditions for a deliberate and controlled ripening period for Pinot Noir fruit, creating balanced, structured wines with intensity and complexity.
Overall the 2015 vintage was defined by lower yields and high quality fruit. Grapes were fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and the wine aged 15 months in 43% new French oak barrels.
This Pinot shows aromas of black cherry, plum and earthy notes with a smoky oak character and baking spices. With its viscous palate, soft entry and smooth, fleshy texture, this wine delivers decadent flavors of strawberry, cherry, cola and notes of clove and black pepper. This wine concludes with spiced fruit compote and a lengthy oak finish.
This wine scores 91 points on Cellar Tracker and is normally only available at the winery but we have it and it's ON SALE!! Don't miss it!!
