Once the Rombauer estate, now owned by the Trinchero family, Napa Cellars produces succulent Chardonnay from the cooler vineyards of Napa Valley. The fruit for this 2016 Napa Cellars Chardonnay was sourced from select vineyards in prime Chardonnay locations including Southern Napa and Oak Knoll. The cool weather influences in the southern part of the valley enabled an extended growing season. After the grapes were harvested and crushed, a quarter of the juice was cold fermented in stainless steel tanks while the balance was put into small French oak barrels. The wine was then put through malolactic fermentation and aged in barrel for a total of 7 months in 35% new oak. The resulting wine has wonderful, bright fruit flavors and crisp acidity. It boasts beautiful aromas of baked apple and butterscotch. On the palate it shows tropical pineapple, guava, pear and hints of vanilla with a long finish.
