About Navigator 2017 Red Blend, Napa Valley
By now you certainly know about Navigator. Winemaker Trevor Sheehan produces these stunning wines with the help of his friends in Napa Valley that bring him prime fruit that he selects and then turns into lush, expressive wines. But, they never break the bank. In fact Navigator wines are some the best value Napa reds we've ever come across. Well, here's the latest. This red blend from the excellent 2017 vintage is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, a classic Bordeaux style blend that works incredibly well with Napa Valley fruit sourced from mature vines in a vineyard in Yountville planted in the mid 90's. Add in 12 months of aging in 30% new oak barrels and you get layered complexity that brings a satiating array of flavors; bright red cherries, blackberries, roasted coffee, vanilla bean, anise and cocoa with velvety, palate-caressing tannins.
And once again we did a double take when we saw the price tag. Needless to say we bought all we could because we know our Wine Express customers love a wine that really delivers and is ALSO a great deal! Don't wait though because Trevor's wines are never huge productions but carefully sourced boutique gems that come and go. And this one is sure to go.
