About Newton 2014 Chardonnay, Red Label, Sonoma

Newton Vineyards is one of the first wineries to be established in the Spring Mountain region of Napa Valley. Over three decades they have produced consistently fine wines building a strong reputation for quality as well as value. The grapes used to make this Red Label Chardonnay are sourced from select vineyards throughout Sonoma county including Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley, Los Carneros, Knights Valley and Dry Creek Valley. As Newton Chardonnay is known for ripe fruit flavors and balanced mouthfeel, the winemaking team hunts for top vineyard sources in the Sonoma County hillsides to build its unique profile. Fermented separately by lot, the final wine is a blend of wines aged in stainless steel tanks and others that spent 7 months in oak barrels, 30% new. For added complexity and balance, a portion of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. It shows aromas of ripe pear, lychee and pineapple, mingling with toasty notes of star anise and clove. The pear, joined by flavors of yellow nectarine, apricot and elderflower, extends onto the palate which is balanced with both a bright acidity and a gentle creaminess
