Winner of the prestigious 2008 GJPV award for best young talent in all the Côte de Nuits, Aurélien Verdet is a busy man. Well-schooled from a young age by his father Alain, who is one of the very first vine growers in Burgundy to go organic, Aurélien carries on the philosophy, working his own organic parcel in the vineyards above the village of Arcenant, and farming fruit from other exceptional parcels in the communes of Nuits-Saint-Georges to Gevrey-Chambertin. He is quickly establishing a name for himself and raising the profile of his domaine with his confidently crafted wines.
Aurélian's passion is in the vineyards, which are meticulously tended to produce the highest quality fruit. His approach in the cellar is one of minimal intervention with the use of very small amounts of sulphur, a very gentle pressing and a softest possible extraction to express the natural flavours of the grapes and the terroir. This is followed by ageing in barrels of which only 40% are new. This Premier Cru Aux Biudots borderes the famous Vosne Romanee Aux Malconsort vineyard.
Wine Spectator scored this 94 points saying "Intense and very fresh, this red features violet, black currant, blackberry and mineral aromas and flavors. Showing beautifully today, but will likely shut down at some point, so be patient. Extremely long finish. Best from 2019 through 2035."
