Pahlmeyer's Napa Valley Chardonnay is an iconic wine. Last year it was a Wine Spectator Top 10 wine of the year! For this 2016, grapes were sourced from the Pahlmeyer Estate, Hyde Vineyard and the Antica vineyard. 100% barrel fermented in French oak with native yeasts. The wine aged 11 months in 100% new Francois Freres French oak, for another 11 months. As always it was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The Wine Spectator scored it 94 saying "Rich and generous, offering an outlay of fig, honeydew, anise and light apricot flavors. Shows a measure of finesse and grace. Given the full body, this is quite elegant. Drink now through 2023."
"And the Wine Advocate scored it 95 points saying "The 2016 Chardonnay has a lovely savory, yeasty/toasty nose over a core of warm grapefruit, fresh apricots and allspice with a touch of candied ginger. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-filling stone fruit and spicy layers, supported by great freshness and finishing long
and creamy." Limited!
