Here's a wine with passion written all over it. The label depicts the famous wall of love near the Romeo & Juliet balcony in Verona where thousands of love messages have been inscribed over the years inspired by the tragic couple's ill-fated but undying love for one another. But the label also reflects to passion inside the bottle for making great wine from the nearby vineyards of Valpolicella.
Merlot (40%), Corvina (30%) and Croatina (30%) are sourced from hillside vineyards in Valpantena. Just like in the production of Amarone, the Merlot and Corvina grapes are hand harvested with great care and then left to dry for 1 month in wooden trays in the winery. Here, thanks to the dry and well ventilated environment where the humidity level is carefully controlled, the grapes lose around 30% of their water content and gain high sugar concentration. Vinification is then done in separate steel tanks at controlled temperature over 30 days followed by aging in oak barrels for 3 months. Afterwards the wine from all three grapes are blended into harmonious and delightful whole.
Passione e Sentimento shows intense aromas of red berries with hints of spices on the nose. The palate is zesty and alive with rich berry fruit flavors, bitter chocolate, woodsmoke and brown spices while the tannins are ripe and velvety. It's a wine you've just gotta love that's also a classic value!
