Tenuta Polvaro in the Venzia DOC is an estate that dates back to the 1600's.
The De Zan family, makers of the Candoni wines, have restored it to
modern grandeur and have a state-of-the-art winemaking facility here.
The property is located just northeast of Venice, close enough to the
Adriatic to have a very balanced, warm microclimate. Here the Pinot
Grigio grapes grown on their estate ripen fully and take on a richness
not often seen in Italian Pinot Grigio. Modern vinification allows the
wine to fully express the delightful character if this compelling grape
variety.
This was rated "Highly Recommended" by the Beverage Testing Institute. They said "Straw color. Interesting aromas and flavors of juniper, lemon pepper, pistachio gelato, rambutan, and apple confection with a supple, bright, dryish light body and a graceful, medium-length candied lemon, pear fruit leather, and capers finish with no oak. A very Italian pinot grigio that offers an authentic expression."
