Half bottle 375ml
The Summit Ranch where Pride Mountain Vineyards are located dates back to the 1880's and is one of Napa Valley's oldest grape growing properties. Owners Jim and Carolyn Pride launched their first vintage in 1991 and it's been a cult favorite ever since. The vineyard blocks up Napa's Spring Mountain stretch over into Sonoma so the wine carries both names on the label.
The fruit for this 2017 is 53% Napa and 47% Sonoma. Twenty-seven individual lots were fermented in stainless steel vats for over 20 days and were then gently pressed to French oak barrels, 50% To 60% new, for 9 months aging pre-blending. After the final blend it aged an additional 11 months in barrel. The blend is 92.5% Cabernet Sauvignon,
5% Petit Verdot and 2.5% Merlot.
Jeb Dunnuck scored this 92 points saying "More blackcurrant, cassis, tobacco, and damp earth notes emerge from the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, another medium to full-bodied, balanced, elegant wine in the lineup. With wonderful purity of fruit and a seamless, sumptuous style on the palate, give bottles a year or so and it's going to drink nicely for 10-15 years."
