The Summit Ranch where Pride Mountain Vineyards are located dates back to the 1880's and is one of Napa Valley's oldest grape growing properties. Owners Jim and Carolyn Pride launched their first vintage in 1991 and it's been a cult favorite ever since. The vineyard blocks up Napa's Spring Mountain stretch over into Sonoma so the wine carries both names on the label.
The fruit for this 2018 is sourced 70% from Napa and 30% from Sonoma. Twenty-seven individual lots were fermented in stainless steel vats and were then gently pressed to French oak barrels. For aging pre-blending. The blend is 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 5% Merlot.
Jeb Dunnuck scored this 91 points saying "Looking at the base Cabernet, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon comes 70% from Napa and 30% from Sonoma. A wonderful nose of blackcurrants, black cherries, bouquet garni, baking spices, and dried tobacco gives way to a medium-bodied, elegant, beautifully balanced Cabernet that's very much in the balanced, fresh, classical style of the vintage. It's ideal for drinking over the coming 10-12 years, and it will probably last even longer."
