An affordable luxury, Purple is a fruit-forward Malbec from the 500-year-old Lagrézette estate, located in the historic Cahors wine region of France. Named for the rich purple color of the estate’s signature Malbec, the grapes are sourced from estate vineyards on the second terrace above the Lot River from vines averaging 15 years age. 100% Malbec, following crushing, a five-day cold maceration is done to soften tannins and bring out the aromas. Fermentation with indigenous yeast is followed by an exteneded maceration. Consulting Enologist Michel Rolland who has worked closely with the estate for many years oversees the entire process.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine said "This is Lagrézette's easy-drinking wine. With soft tannins and bright black fruits, it is ripe, without any oak aging. Juicy acidity and berry flavors give the wine an easy character. It will be ready to drink from late 2018."
Food & Wine Magazine selected this as one of the 12 Best Wines to Pair with
Burgers. They said “Despite the Argentine versions flooding store shelves,
France is Malbec’s home, particularly the Cahors region. This white pepper–y
bottling, full of velvety tannins, is a great introduction.”
