From Querciabella's own estate vineyards in Maremma, biodynamically farmed. The grapes are picked by hand. In the cellar, they undergo fermentation in small cement and stainless steel vats. After malolactic fermentation, the wine undergoes aging both in stainless steel and cement tanks until it is blended and bottled. Mongrana is a pure expression of the coastal Maremma region of Tuscany where the great Super Tuscans, Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Guado Al Taso and many more are produced. 50% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. No animal products or byproducts are used in the production, making it suitable for vegans and vegetarians. A previous Wine Spectator Top 100 Selection.
James Suckling scored this 95 points saying "Love the aromas of plums, cherries and currants with hints of flowers and undertones of dried flowers. Full body, round and silky tannins and fresh and bright finish. A blend of sangiovese, merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Needs two or three years to come together, but already beautiful. From biodynamically grown grapes and vegan."
