About Renieri 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
The Renieri estate is located in the southern part of Montalcino on high altitude slopes. Owner/Winemaker Marco Bacci puts intense focus on his vineyards to produce the best possible fruit. His 70 acres of vines face southeast to southwest at around 1,200 above sea level. These high altitude vines are planted in uniquely diverse, iron-rich soil that's rare for this region. High density plantings are utilized to create extremely low yields. The low-yield fruit is deeply flavored, and in an outstanding vintage like this 2013 brings bold character and intensity to long aged Riserva.
James Suckling scored this 95 points saying "An assertive and muscular style with aromas of dried red plums, wild herbs and wood, leading to a palate that has a very smooth, succulent red-cherry core. Long and effortless palate. Drink or hold."

Behind that glossiness, this is a firm wine with fundamental aromatic building blocks of wild cherry and forest berry that hold the wine tight at its core. You are made well aware of the smaller details like spice, ash and crushed rock that skirt the perimeter of that fruity center. This is a bold and balanced Brunello that has all the prerequisites to pass the test of time. It aged in large oak casks for four years".
