Producing great Zin is what Seghesio is all about. The winery was founded in the late 1800's and their old vine vineyards are legendary in Sonoma. Always bold and expressive, Seghesio's Sonoma County Zinfandel is a blend of grapes from all of their estate vineyards in Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys, many of them from very old vine sources up to 100 years old, along with younger vines that were planted with very select clones best suited for their microclimate. This 2015 is a blend of 85% Zinfandel, 9% Petite Sirah, 3% Carignane and 3% Syrah aged 9 months in 60% American oak barrels (12% new); 40% neutral French and Hungarian oak barrels (neutral). Wine Spectator scored this 90 points saying "
This is loaded with zesty blackberry and raspberry fruit, offering a vibrant structure and appealing accents of toasted sage, white pepper and licorice. Drink now through 2027."
