Because Silver Oak only produces Cabernet Sauvignon from California's two best Cabernet microclimates, their wines are consistently outstanding and complex, brimming with ripe cassis flavors, carefully seasoned with toasty new oak. Because of their long relationships with growers they are able to source the best possible fruit from prime vineyards throughout Alexander Valley.
This wine, from the outstanding 2016 vintage in Alexander Valley is a very careful blend of 94.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4.0% Merlot, 0.5% Petit Verdot, 0.5% Cabernet Franc and 0.4% Malbec. Blended in early 2017, the wine was then aged for 24 months in 50% new and 50% once-used American oak barrels from Silver Oak's own Missouri cooperage, known as The Oak. Early blending assures a balanced core and allows the components to achieve a seamless harmony during barrel aging.
After bottling in the spring of 2018, each bottled was aged an additional 15 months before being released in July of 2020. No ratings yet but we expect nothing but raves.
This 2016 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is ruby in color with a magenta rim. It has an enticing nose of cassis, blackberry, vanilla, sage and spearmint. Upon entry, this wine builds from potpourri and bramble to a bright pop of raspberry on the mid-palate. A juicy finish with chewy tannins and a medium length, it will provide drinking pleasure through 2042 with proper cellaring.
This is a limited allocation so please don't miss your chance to grab this iconic Cab from a classic vintage.
