For over 30 years, St. Francis Winery has produced top-quality varietal wines from superior mountain and valley vineyards in Sonoma County, earning a reputation for bold, fruit-forward wines that showcase the terroir unique to Sonoma. The fruit for this Reserve Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is grown at high elevations on sloped hillsides with good drainage. This naturally puts an element of stress on the vines which creates small clusters, small berries and intensified flavors. The grapes were hand-sorted and underwent a four-day cold soak prior to fermentation to extract optimal color and flavor. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, after primary fermentation, the wine is then aged in French oak barrels, 75% new, for 20 months. This wine was awarded a Gold Medal in the highly competitive San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and Jeb Dunnuck just scored it 94 points saying "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (100% varietal) reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as classic notes of crème de cassis, black raspberries, graphite, and lead pencil shavings. It's beautifully concentrated, has classic Cabernet character, ripe tannin, and plenty of length."
