Stonestreet wines are all grown on the Jackson Family's Alexander Mountain Estate; 235 individual vineyard blocks on the western ridge of the Mayacamas Mountain range towering over the Alexander Valley below. Robert Parker wrote "Stonestreet's wines continue to go from strength to strength... The Chardonnays are spectacular." This Chard is the flagship of the winery and receives rave reviews every vintage.
The Upper Barn Vineyard was planted in 1982 at an elevation of 1800 feet. It's 100% barrel fermented with native yeast with malolactic fermentation in barrel and lees stirred monthly. In total the wine aged 11 months in 47% new French oak. Only 813 cases were produced.
The Wine Advocate scored this 97+ saying "Fermented and aged for 11 months in French oak (44% new), the 2016 Chardonnay Broken Road Vineyard delivers ripe apricots, pineapple paste, apple pie and allspice scents with hints of honeycomb and toasted almonds. Medium to full-bodied, the palate packs a wallop of intense flavors with layer upon layer of tropical fruit and spices, complemented by a creamy texture and finishing long and toasty."
