Always one of the top Meritage wines produced in California and Rodney Strong's flagship, Symmetry is a wine whose name sums up what it's all about. To make Symmetry select areas within each of their many Alexander Valley vineyards where they have grown Bordeaux varietals for over 40 years, are hand harvested, fermented separately and aged in the finestFrench oak barrels. After about six months, each lot is tasted and graded; only the highest graded wines are considered for Symmetry. The blend is then assembled, and the wine is returned to barrels to facilitate flavor integration. The wine is aged an additional 10 to 18 months, before bottling. Consulting Enologist David Ramey oversee the entire process. For this stellar 2013 vintage the blend is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec and 4% Merlot and the French oak barrels were 45% new. Robert Parker scored this 91 points saying "Lastly, the 2013 Symmetry is a Bordeaux blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec and 4% Merlot. This is a suave, supple-textured wine with sweeter tannin, more forward personality, and loads of red and black currant fruit as well as some licorice and underbrush. It is a beauty. Medium to full-bodied and very elegant, this wine was aged 16 months in 100% French oak prior to being bottled. Drink it over the next 12-15 years."
