Tenuta di Renieri is located in the southernmost part of the Chianti Classico zone, in the town of Castelnuovo Berardegna. Here the warmer temperatures produce bigger, riper wines than in the more northern villages. Part of the Bacci group of Tuscan wineries, Marco Bacci oversees the winemaking, using modern techniques while expressing the local terroir. 2016 was an outstanding vintage and an ideal one to produce this This Gran Selezione. 100% Sangiovese from Bacci's hillside vineyards that produce very low yields. It is aged 30 months in French Allier oak, 50% new barrels.
James Suckling scored this 95 points saying "James Suckling scored this 95 points saying "A juicy Chianti Classico with lots of plum, cherry, orange-peel and walnut aromas and flavors. Bark and dried mushroom, too. It’s full and intense with lots of structure and richness. A little tight at the end. Shows excellent potential, as always. Better to drink after 2022."
