Since 1626, the Trimbach family has been promoting and producing fine wines of Alsace. They have been celebrated over the centuries with countless accolades, setting a true gold standard. Maison Trimbach is located in Ribeauvillé, where today three generations work closely together. Maison Trimbach’s vineyards are all situated around Ribeauville (Ribeauville, Hunawihr, Bergheim, Rorschwihr, Riquewihr and Mittlewihr). They benefit from the unique Alsatian microclimate, thanks to the Vosges Mountains protection from heavy rains. The vineyards were planted on the Ribeauville’s fault line that fractured 50 million years ago between the Vosges Mountain range and the Black Forest offering a mosaic of terroirs including the complex calcareous limestone and bio-degraded seashell fossils called “Muschelkalk”.
Grapes are hand harvested for this Pinot Noir Reserve. After de-stemming, the grapes undergo an 8-day cold maceration to extract color and fruit. Fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The Pinot Noirs are the only Trimbach wines which undergo malolactic fermentation (in tank) and they are bottled after 3 months ageing in stainless steel tanks.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine said about this wine "The nose on this wine is still clouded by reduction. The palate, however, shows off cherry fruit, juicy and bright, but also ripe and generous. This slender, full and vivacious Pinot still needs to knit together."
